This is a surprisingly common situation. I just reposted something I wrote on that topic. I will say this: there is a tendency among some – though, to be clear, not all – feminists to have this attitude that women absolutely should have choices in this world, but to come down hard on women who don’t make what they consider to be the “right” choices. They can be brutally dismissive of women who freely choose to be homemakers, and even more cruel to women who freely choose to be submissives. Here’s how I look at it: when your choices are constrained or negatively judged by people who have a list in their heads of what constitute “right” choices, then you’re really not being given freedom of choice at all.
